Have you ever wanted to live forever? I always thought I would like to enjoy a good, long life here on earth. I thought since I was younger that I would like to live until at least age 100. Have you thought of living beyond this?
I thoroughly enjoyed this well organized and researched book. As a Christian, I appreciate spiritual truths and was uplifted as I read and mediated on the many scriptures throughout the book. What started out as an outrageous claim, that we can live forever here on earth-or choose if we want to have long years on life- up to 100 years say or even beyond 120 years was quite thought provoking. As I read, I reflected on the possibility. Jesus promises everlasting life and says that He has claimed victory over death. The idea that Jesus died on this earth so we don’t have to is a huge thing to consider. If this is true, what do we have to lose? We can pray and mediate on this and ask God for the impossible. Nothing is impossible with God and He himself wants to bless us with abundance and long years.
What really worked in this book was the scripture that was used to back up the claims. I enjoyed hearing different viewpoints and illustrations on many Bible passages that backed up the idea we really can enjoy a longer life than originally thought possible here on earth.
Some highlights: We don’t need to accept defeat! God gave us the choice between life and death and we can choose this life-forever! (Deuteronomy 30:19)
Habakkuk 1:12 says “Art thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One? We shall not die…”
Another interesting concept I enjoyed learning- we can replace the “death images” all around us- think of all the movies and books with a death theme or that tell us someone will die- with images of life- thinking on life forever with God and putting out trust in Him that He is good and He wants good things for us, including everlasting life.
God promises to wipe away our tears and take away our pain- He has beaten death. Revelation 21:14- He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
The only part I didn’t like was when it seemed to state that we had to believe this or else waste the sacrifice that Jesus made. Jesus died for our sins and so we could be with God forever. This is what I believe. If anything beyond this is true, that is something we can find out. Certainly, we won’t lose anything by putting our faith and trust in God and asking for everlasting life. Definitely a book to increase your faith and show you the power of prayer as you ask God for the good things that He desires to give to you! Don't give up in asking God for good things and don't lose hope in Him!

This writer has an interesting take on eternal life. Michael Soh, in his book "Immortality (Everlasting Life): The Ultimate Gift From Jesus Christ" asserts that the concept of eternal life is a literal one.
I have heard similar ideas before, but the concept usually revolves around a spiritual life kindled when the previous life is "dead" in the moment of the new birth. Michael takes it a step further to claim that eternal life is ours in the here and now and that we can enjoy eternal life in a physical sense as well as the spiritual if we believe as Christians in the gift that Jesus Christ gave us.
I find myself asking why, if this is true, not one Christian believer has appeared to manage to do this over the past 2,000 years, including the apostles. Michael, however, carefully documents his claim, looking into grammar, syntax and context to explain the meaning of various passages of scripture, including John 11:25 and 26, and John 10:10. He points out that just because billions of people have not managed something does not mean it cannot be done, and admittedly he makes a good point there.
I enjoyed his chapter, "God is a God of Opposites," wherein he describes the many times that individuals who might be considered the least likely to accomplish a task are the ones that God has called to do it. In this chapter he also describes the dichotomy of sin and death and the gift of eternal life, and how the unexpected gift of eternal life is a result of the sacrifice of Christ, a seeming contradiction that accomplished the circumstance of salvation.
He also calls the ageing Christian population to claim their lives and not to allow the guilt of familial obligation and being a burden to sway them away from their birthright. The decision of many Christians to age and die, according to the author, is closely tied to these fears of being a burden or obligation to others.
Soh reminds us that God calls us to experience the fullness of the promises that were given to us.

I am giving this book 4 out of 5 stars, as it is not only well written, but extremely well researched.
I am not what you would call a devout Christian. I do not attend church weekly nor do I consistently read the bible. I am familiar with the more popular stories that I grew up with in Sunday school, but not familiar with verses and how they pertain to daily life. This book, however, fills my recent need to educate myself and find answers to my questions and soul searching regarding faith and religion. I enjoyed this book not only because the content was well research, but the information starts out with basic tidbits, easy to read scripture. In the beginning I was a bit skeptical and feel that I am within the majority of people that believe I will die an early death, as described in the book, and (hopefully) go to heaven. Throughout the book I found myself re-reading pages and the example scriptures over and over. I was very intrigued with this author’s point of views regarding the length of one’s lifespan, and as the book develops so do the concepts. The author continues to gently add in new scriptures throughout the book building his interpretations and beliefs, that it is possible to continue with a young viable life until the return of Christ, but I liked that he had a few very key scripts that he continued to use and reiterate on throughout the entire book, as well, making it more readable and usable for all varieties of readers – at all levels of beliefs. I will probably use this book as a continuation tool, while on my own personal journey, like one uses the bible and strongly recommend reading this book!
